"Why isn't my story published?"

About: Patient Opinion

(as the patient),

My story is already posted, but not published - probably (according to the editorial rules) because it is too long. The editors say people get 'tired' reading on the computer. I find this quite patronising, it seems that they assume that we are all old and infirm and want to protect us from ourselves!

Not only, but also, it is quite insulting. It is quite a common experience for patients to be treated as simpletons - as if that nasty rash or lumbago causes dementia or some other inhibited brain function. Its like saying to Stephen Hawking: 'There there there now, don't you go worrying yourself about that big bang! you are quite safe in here!'

For goodness sake! Edit out the slander, expletives and the names etc, but open the gates a little wider and let people out!

Hi MikeH

As you'll have seen, your story is published now. Sorry for the delay - you posted it on 29 Sept and we have published it on 2 Oct, which is three days later.

Usually, we are able to get 80% of stories published within 24 hours. It is true that longer stories can sometimes be slower for us to publish than shorter stories - perhaps it is us that can feel tired with the longer ones!
