"Is there a better way?"

My wife has endometriosis which led to her needing a cyst removed a few months ago.

The care throughout that experience was marvellous, but although the surgeon removed fibroids and adhesions which were needed to complete the cystectomy, they didn't clear all of them.

This means that already my wife is in pain again from a fibroid which will need to be removed in further surgery, could this not have been done in the first intervention?

We have no criticism with the consultant, but wonder whether the health system works in a way which prohibits this sort of forward thinking?

Do things like payments per case and theatre scheduling restrict the clinicians' ability to take a patient-centric view?
