Having discussed the best course of care to be followed post surgery with the consultant anaesthetist, it was agreed that my health concerns required admission to itu/emu ward post abdominal hysterectomy.
On the morning of surgery, the consultant anaesthetist informed me that admission had been refused - the ward had been closed by managers.
This caused anxiety to me and I felt this was deeply unprofessional. I was returned to the care of the ward, which I felt had an insufficient number of nurses to care properly, and I soon became unwell and needed further care from the on-call doctor.
I believe this caused unnecessary stress to hardworking staff - respect their judgment -they are the professionals.
