"GP refused to investigate what was causing my cough"

About: Newham PCT

(as the patient),

I went to see my GP about my cough which had been a problem for a few months. When my GP heard me cough he asked if I smoked. When I said no and I have never smoked. His reply was that "this isn't very likely" and he said that my cough would go when I gave up smoking!

4 months later I moved from London and went to a new GP who diagnosed me as having bronchiectasis - a lung disease that isn't caused by smoking.

My illness is a rare one apparently, so I don't blame the first GP for not diagnosing this. What I do care about is how rude he was and how he refused to check out what could be causing my cough.
