About: Royal Preston Hospital

What I liked

I was recently admitted onto Ward 3 at The Royal Preston for elective ENT surgery. I work in another NHS hospital and was expecting similar poor standards; the standards at Preston were anything but poor. I was absolutely impressed from start to finish. The ward was very clean. The staff were very friendly, courteous and maintained professionalism. I was kept up to date on everything that was going to happen and all questions answered with confidence and excellent knowledge. The staff on the ward clearly know their speciality very well. Maintaining my confidentiality and dignity came naturally to all - I was never discussed on a ward round where other patients could hear. I was also not "talked over" on ward rounds which is all to common in the NHS. I was looked after on the ward, in theatre and in recovery to the same excellent standard.

The staff (medical and nursing) on the ward are clearly very hard working and the ward is very busy. On no occasion did I hear a member of staff complain, grumble or moan. All staff seemed happy and smiled, even at night! Everyone this ward should be commended on their professional courteous attitude. I do hope they read this and I'd like to say a big thank you for everything.

What could be improved

I have spent ten minutes thinking about this and I can think of nothing.

Anything else?

I wish standards at all NHS hospitals were up to this.
