"Everything. I was admitted with..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

What could be improved

Everything.

I was admitted with suspected appendicitus. I was left in a side room for 2 days with no information, and was shouted at by a nurse for buzzing them during the night when I felt a seizure starting.

I spent a day on Nil by Mouth, and no one put a cannula in, so I had ZERO fluids for 24hours, was not allowed to take anti seizure medication, and had no pain killers what so ever.

I eventually had the operation 4 days after being admitted, but after the operation my dressings were never changed, I was forced to get up and move around 2 hours after, I was discharged with no pain killers, or a home after care kit, no referral to district nurses. The surgeons spoke to me as if I was lower than the flees on their dogs when I asked what the complication was in my surgery, and they still refused to tell me!

I was discharged with clear signs of post op wound infection, and was rusehed back in via A&E 5 days later to have another operation to remove all the damaged and infected tissue.

Anything else?

My second stay in this place was slightly better, B6 staff were amazing, they treated me like a human, sat with me when I cried from the pain, and ensured that everything was ok when I was discharged the second time.
