"Told to leave by the doctor"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I have been born with a heart condition which to some doctors is unknown to them, i won't go into details however, i kept on getting irregular heart beats and i went to Hairmyres Hospital to see if they could sort out the problem.

As i arrived at the outpatients i have to say i was taken in straight away and put on a heart monitor, was checked from the nurses and doctors which were really good, so after 3-4 hours later they put me into one of the wards.

The next morning one of the main heart doctors who i will not mention names came in to see me and told me that everything was ok and would be able to go home later that afternoon, but i told him i still wasn't feeling 100% but he kept to his word and said i was ok, so i thought what the heck then about a couple of hours later i went to get up to get to have my lunch and took another turn, i felt lightheaded and the nurses and another doctor came rushing to my bed to see if i was all right because i was still on the heart monitor, so that doctor told me i was to stay in for another day at least.

So anyway, later on that evening about 5ish, i was about to have my dinner, then the doctor who seen me in the morning walked by the ward and saw me still in bed, so he came into the ward and spoke to me quite cheekely "What are you still doing hear i told you to go" so i explained to him but still told me to leave right now... i was very shocked by his attitude towards me, so i took the heart monitor off myself , got up and got ready and walked out of the ward.

So the next day i phoned the The Glasgow Western Hospital and was told to come in straight away, which i went under tests to sort out the problem and i was in for 3 weeks... the doctors and staff in there were great.

So 2 years on and i have just had another open heart surgery just about 4 months ago to replace my valve so hopefully i don't have to go through all that carry on again and hope it doesnt happen to anyone else.

Thanks for taken the time to read my story
