"The wards seemed clean and the checks..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

What I liked

The wards seemed clean and the checks and recording processes seemed reassuringly vigorous. The nurses generally were quite friendly and helpful when approached. My grandmother's specific food/water requirements were very visible and clear minimalising the chances of dangerous mistakes.

What could be improved

There seemed to be no doctor around whenever I visited and when they were they did not enter into any meaningful dialogue with my family about my grandmother's treatment. The main intention seemed only to be to keep her alive rather than provide real improvements and get her out to a residential home before she was ready (she was straight back in hospital within a few days).
