What I liked
everything. I was referred from Doncaster hospital for a detached retina issue, in comparison to Doncaster it was like being treated like Royalty.
From the initial assement with the nurses in the eye clinic, to the consultant and retina sister, everything was explained and I was given clear expectations of what would happen in the next few months. I was actually treated like a person.
This continued on ward I2 where the nursing staff were exceptional, the lady who brought you endless cups of coffee and the young man who brought your dinner (it was his first week) were all understanding and a credit to the hospital.
Since the operation I have had to ring up with a few queries, all answered quickly and calls returned when they said they would be.
Unfortuanately this week I have had some problems and have had to visit the Eye Casualty department. What a difference compared to Doncaster Hospital. I was seen and treated within 2 hours and appt booked there and then to see my consultant next week. Despite being busy all the staff in this departement were courteous, friendly and explained everything to me.
What could be improved
nothing
Anything else?
Totally amazed at the caring of the staff, as you hear such bad press these days and after my treatment at Doncaster as I was very aprehensive of attendng hospital, despite having two more operations to endure, I have no qualms in attending the hospital as an in patient. I would highly recommend the eye care department to anyone who has the misfortune to have conditions affecting your sight, as sight is very precious
