"Trying to get a GP appointment"

About: A Medical Centre

(as a relative),

My 16year old daughter required seeing a GP at our local Medical Cente in Maghull, though it wasn't urgent she has been unwell and due to going on holiday in a weeks time thought best to be seen prior to that.

The receptionist told her non urgent appointments were 1 month in advance, which we find unacceptable. She was told to call back the following morning and request an emergency appointment.

She did this and was subsequently seen.

I cannot understand nor she, why we had to use an emergency appt when she did not feel it was and was happy to wait a week so as not to take up the appointment for some one who required it more urgently.

This is a regular occurance with this GP service.

More choice should be offered to patients and evening clinics in this practice.
