"The tea and coffe person who was very..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

What I liked

The tea and coffe person who was very polite.

What could be improved

Communication definately needs improving in this hospital as it was that bad you never got the medication that I needed.

Anything else?

When we arrived I handed in my gp letter and handed it to the nurse. I waited hours and hours to be seen once admitted, no pain killers, no water nothing. I resulted to getting the lift to the 6th floor to get myself some sweets as I remembered that there was a sweet machine on the maternity ward. The refferal letter soon got lost and found myself repeating and repeating myself to the doctors and nurses. Nil by mouth for three days they said starting from the wed til 5pm then thurs till 5pm then friday till 5pm waiting for my scan they couldn't promise me if I would have my scan. What a joke! I had my scan on the friday and the consultant came to tell me I have gastroentoritus only got a scan because I was extremely upset otherwise if not I would need to stay in hospital over the weekend.

I am at home now with medication. I really do not want to go in for my operation next week totally dreading it. Some of the nurses just didn't seem to care and this became more apparent after I seen doctors and consultants had left the ward. Undermining patients and literally staving me for three days then only I realised on the third day that my drip was not working. I waited hours and hours to be seen once admitted, no pain killers, no water nothing. I resulted to getting the lift to the 6th floor to get myself some sweets as I remembered that there was a sweet machine on the maternity ward.
