What I liked
I have visited both the labour ward and birhting unit on 4 separate occassionswhen my nieces and nephews were born. The first time in 2006 was distressful because my sister was having complications with my nephew but the staff there were very on the ball as they gave sound advice and the instant they noticed something could be wrong they had the paediatric team brought in immediately to assess the situation and because of this my nephew was born a bit yellow but otherwise healthy. After this I went to visit 2 brand new nieces in the birthing unit! Again the staff were friendly and the wards was clean. This was an easier birth for my sister-in-law and the girls just came right on out! My last visit was again with my sister, but this time I got a niece from her. She again had some complications as there were knots in the cord and the baby wasn't getting any oxygen. But yet again the staff were quick and efficient with the crash team there again just in case! I ahve to thank all of the staff in both these units as they have helped to give me 4 beautiful and healthy nieces and nephews, 2 of whom may not be so if the staff hadn't acted as they did!
Anything else?
Thinking back when we arrived the staff welcomed us with smiles and once the babies had been born all I saw were smiling faces! It was a pleasure to be around them because these are the people who carry the most joy as they are the ones who made it possible for my sisters to hold their own little bundles of joy and they do it every single day!!
