"Exemplary nursing care on Ward 10 Edith Cavell Hospital"

About: Edith Cavell Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had a second knee replacement operation in Edith Cavell hospital in June 2010 and received exemplary care from all concerned. The nursing staff work extremely hard and nothing was too much trouble.

Considering the pressure they are under at times ,especially at night , they are cheerful, professional and have a wonderful sense of humour.

Given they have so many people to look after they responded to my requests for support e.g. pain relief, bedpans etc in a timely way and never made me feel as if I was being a nuisance.

There were times when I had to wait a few minutes but that was fine as obviously patients needs need to be prioritised sometimes. The food was a bit unimaginative.

My first operation was carried out in the private sector and I would rate the care I received on Ward 10 much more highly.

I would also like to mention the staff in the recovery room who were very kind and looked after me very well.

Can I please ask that someone makes sure that larger gowns are available - even larger people like to preserve their dignity.
