What I liked
A TV was put into the waiting room so people could watch the world cup football match if they wanted.
What could be improved
Not lying to patients about how long they would have to wait.
Try to muster up some empathy towards patients.
I know you are providing health care to people but it does not give you the right to treat people like cattle and herd them around from waiting room to another waiting room.
Realisation that people who work in the commercial sector their employers do not accept that you can nip out for a blood test and come back 3 hours later. A consultation with a doctor lasting 10 mins means to are away from work for half a day. These days that can put your job at risk.
I was asked to move my appointment as a favour, an appointment that I had waited 3 months and two weeks for. I made sure I was on time as usual. I was kept waiting for 1 hour and 40mins.
My rushed consultation with the doctor lasted 9 minutes, it lasted 9 minutes mainly due to me asking why I had to wait over 3 months to find out why my heart was missing beats.
Interestingly heart palpitations are taken so seriously that I had a heart monitor fitted within 24 hours of my reporting the symptom. However to find out what is actually wrong with you takes over 3 months.
3 months sleepless nights of worry in case my heart stops while I sleep. Palpitations worse then ever. Relationship stretched to breaking point and my work suffering that I have had numerous "conversations" with my line manager.
I hope someone reads this and thinks maybe we should do something.
