"Hospital was clean, most staff were..."

About: Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre(Nations Healthcare)

What I liked

Hospital was clean, most staff were friendly and helpful

What could be improved

Waiting lists are the longest I've ever been on, although this has been compounded by general incompetence. For example, I was to start a 2-month actigraph (a wrist-watch type device that monitors movements to test for circadian rhythm disorders; my brain doesn't work on a 24 hour clock apparently). 3 weeks later, I received a letter saying that I would be started it in 2 months. Apparently the reception couldn't read "start date" and "end date". After sorting that out, I had to wait another month to get an appointment, which I then missed another appointment because of my condition. Not their fault, true, but I have to wait another month. This is to pick up a little bit of machinery and put it on my wrist. Apparently patients are capable of using pulse oximeters by themselves, but not wrist watches.

I offered to rush down as soon as I could (I'd be 10 minutes late), but apparently the "technicians would have gone home" even though I've seen them at later times than that in the past. Slightly more annoying is that they were taking advantage of the University summer break to do my test. Because of this, I now have to put off getting a job for another month as during the test I won't be able to work.

As I'm going to have to move before the test now finishes (leaving me undiagnosed), I'm going to have to start the whole referral cycle again - my first GP appointment for this was in January. All because they think I'm incapable of putting a little wrist-band on, ignoring the fact they give instructions for much more complicated things (e.g. polysomnographs done at home) on a little piece of paper.
