What I liked
The paramedics who took control of the situation.
What could be improved
I really think the whole unit needs to be improved. My daughter-in-law arrived at the unit on 16th June about 10.15pm she wasn't examined as her waters had broke and I do understand it may have caused an infection. The midwife was very dismissive and sent my daughter-in-law home ,she was in considerable pain (but was told it wasn't severe enough). Had the midewife forgotten how frightening labour is?
When they arrived back home my son had to dial 999 and received instructions over the phone to assist my daughter-in-law until the paramedics arrived. Fortunately they took over and were very competent and delivered my grandaughter safely.
Things could have gone so wrong-
Anything else?
As a family we have only just got over the shock of the treatment received by the maternity unit. We will make an offical complaint soon.
