My husband has had mental health problems for many years during which time he has had numerous admissions sometimes being an inpatient for months at a time.
After a crisis last year, his psychiatrist agreed that he may benefit from psychological therapies when he was well enough.
Eventually my husband received 12 sessions of CBT at West Street in Scunthorpe - he felt for the first time in 18 years that a professional was actually listening to him and helping him to find ways of coping with his distressing symptoms instead of just giving him medication.
Only a few weeks after his therapy finished, he began to show signs of relapse but by using the information and techniques he had learnt in his CBT he was able to cope with these symptoms and avoid a crisis.
Huge thanks to Psychological therapies whose interventions have had such a positive impact on my husbands wellbeing and self esteem.
Although this is a very positive story we had a real battle to access psychological therapies and I know people who have not been able to access this kind of treatment despite asking again and again.
I think that psychological therapies should be more easily accessible to all service users
