I was recently a patient at Bolton Hospital on ward F4 for/after an operation on my ankle. This was my first time in hospital and I was nervous.
However, the overall experience was reasonably pleasant and calm. Everyone I came across, whether it be my specialist and surgeon, anaesthetist, nurses ot even the cleaner, were very nice and reassuring.
The nurses on ward F4 were fantastic. They respected my dignity very much so and were always there to help and check on me, and let me know what was going on. Even the student nurses were brilliant. Refreshments were always on hand, and the food was plentiful and nice.
Overall there wasn't really any bad bits. The only thing to note that could be changed for the future was that I wasn't told when they decided to keep me in further and it was in fact my visitors at night that informed me. Also something similar happened when I was discharged.
