I was an NHS patient assigned to the Nuffield private hospital in Nottingham for day surgery. My small en suite room felt like a prison cell, as it was cut off from everyone. The staff were friendly and supportive, but I much prefer an NHS open ward, even though it is inevitably busier and noisier. Also, I would have preferred a female nurse, and an instruction sheet for aftercare would also have been useful.
