What I liked
The building internally and externally is old and worn, it is not fit for 21st century service.
Was sat up in a chair for extraction, this was uncomfortable and unfamiliar to all of my previous extractions / fillings.
Very non-personal room containing at least 6 chairs. It looked and felt like going back 30 years.
Never used the term sausage factory, but this is very much the case here.
Advised I had anxiety, this was not taken onboard.
Waited 40 mins, this didn’t help the anxiety.
I had a wisdom extraction in Bristol a few years ago – there was one chair in the room and the nurse was very, very helpful to relieve my anxiety. A benchmark that Birmingham didn’t take a single step towards.
What could be improved
The building internally and externally is old and worn, it is not fit for 21st century service.
Personal items of hospital staff were visible, this didn't add confidence in the 'sterile area'.
Even the waiting room wasn't particularly clean.

Anything else?
I advised I was suffering anxiety but this was ignored.
Injections were stabbed into my mouth, even when I winced / groaned in pain. No one checked if the anaesthetic had covered everything, the nurse was told 'hold his head' pliers appeared and they began to try pulling out the tooth.
I was extremely uncomfortable and felt like a car having a nut forcefully removed in a garage. I had to stop the procedure as I was unable to suffer any more. I wasn’t offered anything to calm me (i.e. gas/air as suggested in my consultation), I requested taking it easy on me at first so I could get through it, but was told no. At that point I was advised that I could either put up with it or have to come back for a sedation appt. I left. It was several hours before I was calm enough to discuss my experience and I find it difficult to write this.
Very unsure if I can bring myself to return as it was a horrendous tortuous experience and I don’t want to be treated like a piece of machinery.
