"I liked nothing about my experience."

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

What I liked

I liked nothing about my experience.

What could be improved

Improvements are needed on every level. I was being treated for a very sensitive problem and felt like I was dragged from pillar to post with little say in what was happening to me. I was left waiting in corridors during a time of grief, treated without dignity or respect for my feelings and worst of all totally mis-lead by medical practitioners about the choices available to someone in my situation. The information I received was repeatedly contradictory leaving me and my partner confused and frustrated at an emotionally difficult time. I was then sent home with no follow up appointment to complete the treatment which made me feel that I was not a priority and my health issue dismissable.

Anything else?

I do not think it is unreasonable to be

a) given the correct information in the first instance in order for the patient to make the correct choices about care options available;

b) for medical staff, in particular highly paid Drs, to be considerate enough to read your notes before they commence a course of treatment which may be unsuitable;

c) to be provided information in a private and dignified manner;

d) to provide sufficient advice on follow up requirements.
