"On June 21st 2010 I was admitted ..."

About: James Paget University Hospital

What I liked

On June 21st 2010 I was admitted to the CCU ward suffering from a heart attack, after suffering with heart problems and angina for a number of years. I was taken to NNUH on 23rd June 2010 for an Angiogram which resulted in my having a Stent implant. I was then discharged and sent home feeling on top of the world.

A few days later the entry point on my arm for the stent operation became infected or so it appeared and once again I was admitted to a ward and at this time I was feeling quite anxious as I was due to attend my son’s wedding 2 days later but the consultant said he would do everything possible to help me attend this occasion. True to his word I was discharged on Friday 2nd July 2010 and travelled down to Wiltshire and had a wonderful weekend at the wedding, returning home on the Sunday.

On the 6th July 2010 after a visit to my doctor to report my previous treatment, I travelled into town (Lowestoft) and I began again to feel unwell. I met my wife and still feeling unwell we went over to JPUH for an appointment I had with the Cardiac Nurse. On arrival at JPUH my wife thought I was having a Hypoglycaemic attack and gave me something to eat. This seemed not to work so she pushed me down to the Department of Medicine for my appointment. (The next three days I have little memory of the events that followed). Evidently I was rushed down to A&E before being admitted to the HDU where the work started to save my life. I would like to thank all who looked after me from the tea ladies, cleaners, nursing staff, doctors and all in A&E and all those who played no small part in making me well. I thank all at James Paget University Hospital for returning me to health.

Once again please thank all your staff for all that they have done for me. With Highest regards
