I recently had an experience of my local hospital (Royal Bolton Hospital) as a patient, I turned up at the A&E dept after being told by my G.P. surgery that I could only get a telephone consultation, in considerable abdominal pain I waited about 20 mins to be seen and assessed. I was sent straight through to see a doctor and waited no longer that half an hour to see him and within an hour I was being taken to a ward. The day after I went into surgery for an emergency cholesystecomy (gall Bladder) operation I spent ten days in hospital all together ward E4 which I might add was cleaned three times a day every day and they also had a crew who came to dismantle the radiators and vacuum the inside of them. My after care was second to none, help with personal care if needed, getting to the bathroom, even a quick chat to keep spirits up, on top of the obvious medical needs. When I was due to be discharged the hospital contacted the district nurses on my behalf, who, I must say, carried on the good work when I got home. I felt I must write after all the bad press of the NHS and let you all of a good experience for once. Diane from Bolton.
