I experienced so many screamingly obvious systemic failures that I plan to write an account for "Standpoint" magazine about my brief stay (for related gall-bladder inflammation, kidney infection and wildly fluctuating BP). The place lacks any kind of formal hierarchy of responsibility (the buck stops nowhere), staff morale is low and defensive, and consequently the whole organization is sloppy in the extreme. But much worse is that it appears - deliberately - to lack any means to change itself for the better.

We're sorry that you feel so negative about your experience while at the Lister. You make damning and sweeping criticisms, yet you do not seem to have given us the chance to investigate your concerns. Perhaps you might allow us to do that by making a formal complaint and allowing us to investigate? We feel strongly about this because your stated experience is so very different from what many patients tell us, day in and day out about the high quality care they receive from our staff. All you need do is e-mail our complaints team on: patcomplaints.enh-tr@nhs.net and they will take it from there.
