What I liked
My 88 year mother was discharged from Dugdale Ward at approximatelty 5.00pm on Monday 28th June. I was promised a full home care package by Social Services which included meals on wheels. I was advised she needed an hour in the morning after long discussions I was promised 3/4 of an hour. On Tuesday morning I was informed she was had only been give 1/2 an hour ( the carer stayed for an hour, as it was impossible to do everything in 1/2 an hour) The hospital should have known this. The meals on wheels never turned up. She was sent home with a dressing onher wound & there was no record of this on the discharge sheet, Her drugs were tipped into a huge plastic bag with no instructions on how they should be given, along with some of her belongings, these included a 2 packets of Alendronic Acid on labelled 1 once a week on Mondays and the other 1 once a week on Tuesdays
If she did not have me & a carer with a bit of initiative she would have come home with left dirty, because there was no time to wash her with no hot meal, a dressing that could have stayed on for months and a bag of drugs not being properly administered by anyone.
