What I liked
My daughter is currently been treated. However the Dr's ability to communicate and act is nothing to be desired. My daughter was admitted Sunday the nurses have been amazing. However the dr's are flakey it is now Wednesday and she has been filled with drugs since sunday and no tests have been carried out and her consultant only turned up because i contacted PALS and even then she only turned up on tuesday, she didnt say much and left her to carry on in agony.
The nurses hands are tied as they cant go over the dr's head.
Given my daughter is only 17 at no point have we been included in any correspondence and speaking with a dr is extremely hard to do, and when you do speak to a dr they contradict each other. It is traumatic enough to be 17 in hospital alone in pain without been ignored.
I cant stress how much the nursing staff must put up with as they must get the brunt end of the frustrations patients have with drs. This has been a much more traumatic experience than it needed to be, and feel this is only the beginning even though we have been battling with her illness for a year now and just tread water constantly
What could be improved
Drs attitudes and sense of responsibility to their patients
Anything else?
The nurses and assistants on Nidderdale are fantastic. The care they offer is second to none and will go as far as to say as they top my personal experience of private hospital care. They show empathy and understanding and have helped massively with my daughters fears. Thank you to all nursing staff on Nidderdale and can they run tutorials to the drs on bedside manner and professionalism!?
