"Not very much unfortunately, I ..."

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital

What I liked

Not very much unfortunately, I had a consultation at the Maxillo Facial Clinic back in April 2010 so that I could have two wisdom teeth removed. I had to wait an hour to be seen by a consultant who didn't even bother to apologies for the wait, they weren't what I would consider polite. For the 10 minutes I was with them they did ask lots of questions and then sent me for xrays. Once i'd managed to find my way to the right department I had to wait a further 30 minutes to have my xray before returning to the Maxillo clinic to wait another 30 mins to be seen again by the consultant. Who asked more questions and seemed unsure what they were going to prescribe it wasn't until I informed him a second time that they were causing me a huge amount of pain and discomfort that they reluctantly agreed they should come out. So all in all I was there for over 2 hrs and for someone who works full time it did not go down well with my employer. I was informed rather abruptly by the receptionist that I would receive an appointment in the post which I did about 2 weeks later but would have to wait until the end of September! Well now I've received another letter at the beginning of June informing me that my appointment has been canceled but with no reason as to why. Since then I have returned to my dentist because my two wisdom teeth are agony but they cant do anything except prescribe me antibiotics, my dentist also informed that I should follow up on the letter as I had not heard anything else. Well I followed up the letter and was kindly informed that they have closed the clinics for these procedures at Canterbury, QEQM and William Harvey for the foreseeable future due to staffing issues and that I'm on a waiting list. I am utterly disgusted with the service, I still have not had my wisdom teeth removed and I'm still in agony. I've currently been waiting to have them taken out now for nearly 4 months and have no idea how long I am going to have to wait.

What could be improved

Everything.

Anything else?

I'm outraged, disgusted and still in pain. I shall be writing formally to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and also my local MP.
