What I liked
The hospital seemed to be clean. The entrance to the hospital is welcoming.
What could be improved
Communication. My Father was a patient and under the Oncology Team. He was in his 80's and relied heavily on me (his Daughter) to oversee his treatment and communicate with the Oncology Team. When needing clarification of his treatment/drugs my calls and emails were ignored on several occasions which was unprofessional and rude. It made a very anxious time even more stressful. Eventually my Father became so sick he had to be admitted and was put in a "holding ward" until a bed became available in Oncology. The nurses were uncaring and stood around in groups totally ignoring the Patients. One poor Gentleman in this ward obviously suffered from dementia and he was allowed the freedom to harass the very sick Patients unfortunate enough to be in this ward (not his fault of course he was a sick man mentally and physically). It breaks my heart to think this was the last time I saw my Father alive and not an image I care to remember. I have no doubt a great deal of money was spent over a period of time in treating my Father but that all was to no avail when the so called Medical Personnel proved to be so uncaring and cold. They are happy enough to take a salary from the NHS so should be dedicated to their work, this includes the Consultants as well as nursing staff. I am sure my comments will fall on deaf ears but hope they get published as this hospital, which is reputed to be one of the better ones, needs an overhaul in attitude and compassion. I am so sad my Father ended his life there.
