"A couple of the nurses who tried ..."

About: Coalville Community Hospital

What I liked

A couple of the nurses who tried to help me with my feeding.

What could be improved

The consultants spent little time with me and refused to give me a drip. I became severely dehydrated. As I was unresponsive they decided I had given up. My daughter, my brother and my ex-wife refused to accept this and insisted on my transfer to Leics. Gen to have peg fitted. The Consultant at Coalville said I would have 6 months max. as I would be at risk of infection. I am still here and doing great in my new life in Spain. My mobility is improving daily. I have the blood pressure of a 40 year old at 74. The moral of this story is that the family spend a lot more time with the patient and their opinions count. They see what the consultant does not in the short time he visits. We were told my quality of life would be poor, but if the family are prepared to be patient and deal with the hard work of rehabilitation it should be their choice. Never give up.

Anything else?

Please relay this message of hope to the consultants.
