I was admitted to derby royal infirmary's a and e department last month. It seemed to me that they misdiagnosed me three times before a doctor eventually looked more carefully at the notes. When I eventually got transferred to a ward I found that it smelled and I felt the staff to patient ratio was very low. The nurses did not seem to know what treatments/procedures I was booked in for, (I would ask one nurse who would give one answer only to be told something completely different by the next nurse). I found this to be an extremely frightening experience and am looking very carefully at my health insurance to see if I can use private health care in the future. I would be very interested to know how many of the trust's executives would actually use their own hospitals and how the job cuts which I understand have been threatened on some wards, would improve the situation.
