The A&E department were efficient and thorough.

What could be improved

When my partner was admitted onto a ward I was appalled by the treatment he received. The night staff were without fault however as the day shift took over I couldn't believe the difference. Firstly they appeared to have no notes from A&E despite the fact they were in depth and thorough.

The person in charge of the ward was the most rude, disrespectful person I have ever come across in the NHS and a marr on the rest of the hospital staff. When my still severely unwell partner admitted for heart problems, struggled to the bathroom to get washed we returned to find his things thrown off the bed and this person saying that they needed his bed! He still had not been treated nor had the Dr's completed the tests they had said they would. He was then left in a chair where he became unwell again and I asked the same nurse if they could have a look at him (bear in mind he was admitted due to chest pain and heart abnormalities) only to have them turn their back on me and say 'well I dont have a bed for him' and refused to check he was ok. Another nurse came to his assistance, he then felt sick and so I asked for a bowl and was thrust it into my hand with no eye contact and a mutterence of what I can only assume was rude due the fact of another nurse laughing which I found deeply upsetting.

This treatment carried on from this particular person until we were forced to walk out as no treatment, tests or help were offered despite my patners deteriorating health in order to get him some help.

This is surely not the idea of a hospital to have to leave in order to find medical care.

Anything else?

It seems the administration and nursing staff are appalling and rude and the Dr's don't stand a chance with these ill mannered, bitter people who have forgotten the entire point of their job is to help and care for people, instead of being more interested in what they're having for lunch, and how they've worked for years without any thanks. They get paid don't they? I suggest if people don't like their jobs they leave and stop taking it out on people who are at their most vulnerable. I can only imagine what this particular persons attitude puts patients and their carers through unneccesarily on a daily basis.
