"I found the communication from ..."

What I liked

I found the communication from this part of the NHS poor. My mother aged 84 was sent to the LRI by herself when she was not fit to travel or be at the LRI alone. I stayed with her and yet, after I left she took ill and had to be attended by nurses who staff the LRI.

This should not have happened had the Rutland Hospital told relatives that they were not providing an escort.

What could be improved

The Rutland Ward should have communicated to me, the next of kin, that they were not going to send any escort, or provide the proper care for my mother during her long day at the LRI. She was not returned to the Rutland Hospital until 7.00 pm.

From what I was told, the LRI staff were cross and communicated this to the Rutland Memorial Hospital, yet none of the nurses at Rutland told their Manager!
