What I liked

I am commenting on behalf of my mother. As a family, we all felt incredibly respected, cared for and well informed. Everyone from the cleaning staff, to the consultants were clear, honest and a pleasure to be around. I really could not fault the care that my mother has been given, and i feel privileged to live in a country where the welfare state can offer such beautiful care regardless of status or income. We were all consulted on all decisions with regard to medication, routine, diet and further care, and we all felt like we were being considered in all decisions.

What could be improved

The pharmacy was a little slow, and sometimes my mother had to stay in for a day longer than expected in order to collect meds, but this is more of a constructive observation than a criticism. We always came away with the correct medication, and clear instructions for administering it, so if it takes a little longer, it takes a little longer.

Anything else?

I could not compliment this hospital more, in recent months, my mother has been in the Lillian Holland Ward, the Lindo Wing and the Crusaid Ward and has been looked after superbly in each. The care has varied and we have come into contact with many many people, all of whom have shown us the care and respect that every patient or family member deserves, and then some. Thank you so much, the journey to the end of my mother's life could have been much more traumatic had we not received such strong and wonderful support throughout her illness. To St. Mary's Hospital, we owe an eternal debt of gratitude.
