"Midwife support and administration unsatisfactory"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Maternity

I don't usually leave complaints on websites, but seeing as this seems to be the only way the hospital responds I wanted to feedback on the overly complicated system you have for antenatal care.

I am now 25 weeks pregnant, and was referred to Whipps Hospital by my GP who estimated my due date in June 2017. After a dating scan gave me a more accurate due date of August 2017, it still has not been updated anywhere on the hospital or surgery IT records. As a result I have been booked appointments at wrong times, and I have had to go in and manually make appointments at the right time.

I have seen the midwife only once during my whole experience with Whipps (excluding a VBAC and booking appointment). That one appointment/checkup was very brief and frankly the midwife was quite uncaring (I was told my long term migraines were just part of being pregnant and I was even told to bring /reuse my own urine pot!) After notifying this midwife of the wrong due date on my records, which they promised to correct, they have yet to notify my GP and as a result causing delays in me giving notice of my pregnancy at work.

Furthermore, the number for the midwife is only to leave answerphone messages, so who knows what I need to do in case of emergency and I need to speak to an actual person there and then!
