"No guarantee of when I will have surgery"

About: Western General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I had a consultation with my urology consultant in December, 2016 and treatment was agreed. I received a 12 week guarantee letter and had my pre-assessment in early February. It is now 18 weeks but still no date for admission to hospital.

I and my local GP's have phoned Waiting List Co-ordinator on several occasions. My local GP also wrote at the end of February about the severity of the pain I am in. It would appear I will definitely not have operation in May but "should be June", but that is not a guarantee. I am reliant on painkillers to get me through the day and have no quality of life. I feel abandoned.

Dear GK57

I am so sorry to read of your difficulties whilst waiting for a date for your admission to hospital.

I am sorry to say that we are having difficulties with some of our waiting times and some patients are waiting longer than we would like. I would be happy to look into this for you and would be grateful if you please contact the Patient Experience Team:

Email: feedback@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Telephone: 0131 536 3370

I hope that we can help.

Kind regards

Jeannette
