"Maternity unit"

About: Peterborough City Hospital / Maternity

I would like to say thank you to all the staff that looked after me, from the time I registered my pregnancy to the time I gave birth it was a very good experience and I would happily recommend you to anyone. I had previously had bad reviews about the maternity unit so was a bit anxious, but my concerns were soon removed. Being an older mother and the fact that I had previous low birth weights the staff made sure I was under a consultant and I had extra scans. And when my baby's weight was low they added on more check ups and scans so I was properly looked after. At 37 weeks I was scheduled for induction and things did go according to plan so ended up having an emergency C-section. My husband and I could not believe the number of staff that looked after me they were all very caring, considerate and explained everything, it was brilliant. After my baby was delivered she had to be in Special Care, the staff made sure I was taken there to see my baby even in a bed. She was keep in hospital for 5 days because she had an raised inflammatory markers and the level of care carried at a high standard. I was put in a side room for the three day and then moved into a ward for the rest of my stay. The only grumble I have is on the day of my discharge the ward was short staffed and did not get discharged until 23:00 hours but I guess that could not be helped due to the circumstances. I cannot begin to thank you enough for all the hard work that you do, you all deserve a pat on the back. Unfortunately I am terrible with names and cannot remember any of the names of the people that looked after me, but if they remember me I would just like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and think you're all amazing and you're doing a fantastic job!! My daughter was born weighing 4 pounds 14 ounces at 9 months she's 8.5 kilos and doing very well. We named her Amelia Dorothy Rose Polkey. You provide a first class service and it pains me when you get press because my experience was fantastic !!!
