What I liked
The first impression you have is where on earth are you going as you turn into a Industrial Estate,it looks like a large block of offices, but as soon as you go through the doors you are in for a very big surprise, the first thing that you see is a lovely restaurant and the prices that they charge are very reasonable and the food there is quite good too, in fact better than some places I have been too!! You go up to the first floor to the wards, ladies one end and gents the other end, it looks nothing like a hospital ward, it is spotless and everyone is so nice and friendly, like you have known them years they realy care about you and it shows. This is the second time that I have been in Barlborough, the first time was in November 2008 to have a total knee replacement and the second time was November 2009 to have the other knee replaced. I have on both occasions been treated with the upmost care and treatment that any one could ever wish for, everyone and I mean everyone from the cleaners all the way up to the main man, the consultant, have time for you, nothing is too much bother and they will answer any questions that you may have.
On coming home the nurses and the physio's are just as good, and they tell you any problems phone us as you are under their care for 6 weeks.
What could be improved
The only problem that I have found on both occasions is the time that you have to wait for a Taxi to come home, yes they fetch you and send you home in a Taxi, when you have has major surgery the last thing you want to do is to be hanging about for 3hours waiting to go home, so yes that is the only downfall and needs to be sorted out.
Anything else?
I could not beleive this was NHS when I first went therebecause it is out of this world, clean and spotless and staff that actually care and treat you with respect, I would recommened this hospital to anyone because it takes some beating!!!!!!
