On 18th Nov 2009 I underwent invasive surgery to my ankle at Derriford Hospital. On my discharge I was given a flat shoe to protect my dressings which was unfortunately undersize but all that was available. The next day my wife visited Helston Community Hospital to ask for a replacement/exchange. The reception staff refused point blank to help in any way due to the fact that I am a serviceman from the near-by Navel Base. I realise that the hospital is in no way obligated to provide the requested item but I would have thought that some compassion, common sense and helpfulness could/should have been used. At the end of the day despite the fact that I am a serviceman I am still a UK Tax-payer
