"My parent liked the food. Most ..."

What I liked

My parent liked the food. Most of the nurses appeared very caring. The consultant who visited weekly was good.

What could be improved

The physio treament was not as good as at the acute hospital. We were told my parent would get more physio for rehab when it was less and the physios at St Luke's didn't appear to take the "risks" the other physios were prepared to and my parent's mobilty became worse. Communication was poor; had to chase around for info especially after consultant's round but when they decided improvement had plateaued then all of a sudden as soon as you visited they were eager to talk to you to arrange discharge. Taking people to the toilet regulary was poor; when I was visiting many people seemed to have to wait for the toilet. My parent reported that night times were worse when they used bedpans sometimes even though they could get out of bed.

Anything else?

Sorry didn't know this web site existed so hence the delay in responding. I felt the hospital was not geared up for extensive rehab in 2008 but this may have changed now.

This web site should be promoted in hospitals as most people do not know it exists.
