"Waiting room"

About: Lakeside Unit

(as the patient),

In your mental health unit attached to West mid hospital has promotional material for Jehovah's witnesses displayed in prominence next to official nhs leaflets.

This organisation is very much part of the cause of my mental health problems. The actively discourage seeing of mental health professionals that lead my family to restrict treatment until I was sectioned. Having this material promoted in your hospital especially the mental health unit causes me immense emotional distress.

This is an organisation who is currently under investigation by the crown commission in Australia for how their policies cause risk to children. In other nhs trusts distribution of this material is considered harassment to staff why is it promoted in this facility?

Thank you for your email. I have checked the waiting room in Lakeside and there are currently no religious leaflets of any kind. There is one poster only giving information about the Trust Chaplaincy service. I have alerted staff to check the waiting areas periodically to ensure that there are no religious leaflets and that all leaflets are appropriate for this area.

Thank you for raising this
