"Parking problems at Leighton"

About: Leighton Hospital

(as the patient),

I took my daughter to Leighton A&E after she was assaulted. We were at the hospital just after midnight and were ask to move my car to the Pay & display. I stayed sat in my car while my wife took my daughter in. I parked in an area where i was not causing an obstruction and stayed with the vehicle. I was told by security again to move my car to the pay car park (now 1am). I had come out with only my phone as my daughters assault needed urgent attention. I was harassed by hospital security to keep moving my car or be clamped. The irony? there were 2 hospital vehicles parked in front of a fire exit restricting access while I did not seem to be obstructing anything.

Is it like i have any choice about parking at the hospital? No. Next time I'll call an ambulance.

Thank you for your comments. The area adjacent to the A and E Car Park is closely monitored by the Security Staff to ensure that Emergency Vehicles and short stay for patients in cases of emergency drop off. Where vehicles are creating an obstruction the Security Staff will contact the patients/relatives to move their vehicle as soon as possible for Health and Safety reasons. Your comments have been raised with staff and we are sorry that you felt harassed. The A and E car park is in very close proximity to the Department and there are usually sufficient spaces available. We also have, at each barrier, direct assistance communication directly to the Control Room should there be any problems with parking.
