"Worried my surgery will be postponed again"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d)

(as the patient),

I have been waiting for a date for a micro-discectomy since December 2016. I was given a date for this - 7th April for pre op assessment and then the surgery on 10th April. I had a call on the 6th April asking if I could go in that night for surgery on the 7th due to emergency operations taking place on the 10th and rather than cancelling me I would be done on the 7th.

I was prepped for theatre at 6am on the day (with theatre gown etc on). I was informed that there were several in front of me and that I should be going down to theatre between 1 and 2pm that day. At around 2pm I was informed that my surgery would not be taking place due to things being slow in theatre with other cases. I had to go home and now have to phone on Wednesday morning to find out if I go in that night or on Thursday morning for surgery on Thursday. I am now so worried that I will be sent home again as I am in constant pain with prolapsed disc. The nursing staff were lovely but I am just so frustrated and worried that my surgery may be postponed again.
