About: Hammersmith & Fulham Perinatal Mental Health Team

(as the patient),

Having historically suffered from depression, when I was pregnant I was offered counselling from the Hammersmith and Fulham Perinatal Service. Initially, I felt that it was unnecessary and was slightly offended that the health care professionals felt that I would benefit from the care being offered.

I found the service helpful, insightful, and compassionate, when discussing how childhood experiences affect your capabilities as a spouse and a parent.
