"I would like more contact with my family"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Essex / Danbury

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I find praying allows me to release issues onto and talk to someone who doesn’t question me about what I’ve done.

The chaplain does come and chat to me and gives me space by trying to answer my questions. The other staff really look out for you & try their best. Some try harder than others, but the majority are good,

I think staff should allow for me to have more contact with my family and listen to the concerns I have about them because sometimes they say they cannot help me by saying that it is hospital policy that they cannot help with the specific requests I’m asking for.

It is nice to know that when I need 5 minutes out I can go and pray to God.

All patients are allowed to maintain regular contact with their family members/relatives, the Charity has equally provided Skype contacts on the ward which patients can access at all times to contact their family members. We have a protocol in place whereby patients can request to call their family members using the office phone if they don't have access to phone cards
