"My very positive experience of The Horder Centre"

From my first referral appointment to going home after my Total Hip Operation, i was treated with dignity and respect and in a friendly manor. Also every time i needed to call the centre for any reason there was always a friendly voice on the other end of the phone. When i went for my pre op assessment, i was given a choice about what kind of anesthesia to have as well as choices about other things.

When i arrived at The Horder Centre for my operation, i was taken with my partner to a room where we were made very comfortable. We were visited by my consultant, the anethiatist, the pharmcist and a few nurses and other professionals who all had a role to play in my safety and wellbeing.

After having had my operation i was made very comfortable. After a short while my partner was able to visit me, and spent as much time as we wanted. The nursing staff were all very helpfull and made me feel so at ease and gave me plenty of time. I was never rushed to do anything, if i felt unable, that was ok.

The room was very comfortable with my own bathroom, tv and telephone if needed, and it was very clean, which i think is very important.

Having had a new hip i had to start using it as soon as possible. So as i had my operation in the afternoon it was a bit too soon to get me walking the same day, so in the morning i was encouraged to get up and start walking. The physiotherapy staff were also very helpfull, and again nothing was rushed, i was able to do everything at my own pace.

After being discharged the following day, the nurse came out to the car to make sure i was ok getting in. It seems nothing is too much trouble.

I will have to have my other hip replaced sometime in the near future, and i will definitly be choosing The Horder Centre. Also i would recommend anyone else who needs this kind of operation to choose them too.
