I have attended the breast clinic at the Linda McCartney Centre for the past few years mainly for annual mammo's due to family history.
Two years ago I was treated as a day care patient on 9Y.
However, in February I was diagnosed with breast cancer and required further treatment which included major surgery.
All along I have been treated with the utmost dignity, care and respect.
All staff on the breast unit and on 9Y from cleaner to consultant do an amazing job.
I am a type of person to ask lots of questions and the clinical team always make time to answer these and provide me with information to help me make informed choices about my treatment.
An example of the care I received, my consultant whilst I was being prepped for anaesthetic went and got a heated blanket for me, chatted and most importantly reassured me and held my hand as went off to sleep. What more can you say to that!
There is so much negativity in the media about the NHS at the moment.
Therefore, its important to give praise and also celebrate the great work and research that's being done to keep people as healthy as possible.
On a personal note, I .just want to say a very big 'thank you' from the bottom of of my heart to all staff on the breast unit.
"Nothing short of exceptional care!"
