I am a 60 year old male who woke up with a severely swollen hand.
I went to Barnet A&E at 11.15 am, checked in and waited.
was called through after 1 hour and saw nurse who sent me for an X ray.
Whilst still waiting for an X ray (1.5 hours) they apparently called me 3 times on the A & E P/A system and when I didn't respond as I was in radiography they deleted me from the A & E list.
X ray told me to go and wait in A & E.
After another 1.5 hours I asked the receptionist how long I had been there so I could pay the parking charge. The receptionist informed me that A & E had discharged me because I had not responded to the announcement I could not hear in the radiography department.
Back on the list I waited another 1.5 hours before I remonstrated and left the building very angry and with no treatment or analysis of the X ray.
How much did that pointless farce cost us tax payers ?? £500.00
The next day booked into BMI hospital and had an ultra scan, diagnosis and cortisone injection in 40 minutes £486.00,
We so touchy about the sacred NHS it just gets more and more inefficient.
"A&E needs resuscitation."
