"Shocking lack of information and blood stained..."

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary / Accident and emergency

Attended triage on Saturday night. The staff were all pleasant, however there was a shocking lack of information about what was going on.

There was a handwritten board which said there was an estimated wait of one hour which was not altered in the time we were there, so clearly not updated.

We sat for 72 minutes before being triage - and then a further wait of 90 minutes before being recalled.

And to top it all there is a nasty red stain on the triage room door, which looks like blood....

Just felt like staff were too stretched to be able to provide information, which might help to alleviate some of the anxiety felt whilst in the waiting room.

Most A&E invest in electronic boards which can be updated by the clerks. Removing the board would be better than not bothering to update it.
