My initial appointment following my GP referral was fantastic, for the first time in nearly two decades I felt someone really understood my 'invisible ' symptoms and was listening.
This consultant carried out tests on me during my consultation and arranged for several more tests to be done to confirm his thoughts on the cause of my symptoms and a follow up appointment. All the staff involved in carrying out my tests were also fantastic.
However, on returning for my follow up appointment my consultant was not available so I was seen by another consultant. This consultant was the complete opposite of the original consultant. To detail how awful the second consultant was would take too long so my advice is this, if you see a consultant who contradicts themselves, does not listen to you, is patronising and only focused on one cause being the reason for your neurological damage, even when tests rule this out, then ask to see a different neurologist as the hospital does have other fantastic neurologists.
I have requested an appointment to see the original consultant, this has now been arranged.
"First consultant fantastic, second consultant..."
