On 30th January 2017 I was admitted to University Hospital , Lewisham via A&E following a fall close to my home , when my nose was very severely damaged . In fact my right nostril was so damaged that I thought at first that no part of this could be saved and it would need to be reconstructed using plastic surgery techniques.
I was operated on later that day and subsequently spent three days in Cedar Ward recovering. I was delighted to find that my nose had been reconstructed during my operation, and was astonished at the skill shown by the hospital's surgeons in achieving this - although I know that they were not sure that they would be able to achieve this before they started. I have just been discharged by ENT after the consultant and their team had supervised my treatment following my initial discharge from Hospital.
I would like to compliment all involved in my treatment at University Hospital, which was first class throughout, and which has left me with the minimum of visual damage to my nose given the extent of my initial injuries. Perhaps my thanks could be conveyed to all involved. John Cooper
